Jo Yuri revealed that she learned about the audition opportunity through her agency. Just before the audition, she was in Busan, and when she mentioned her plans to her mother, her mother encouraged her to go for it.Jo Yuri: “I was in Busan the day before, and my mom asked why I was here and if I was just leaving again. But when I told my mom I would audition for ‘Squid Game,’ she told me to hurry and go.”

Multiple Auditions

Jo Yuri described the rigorous audition process, which involved several stages. After successfully completing the first audition, she received a callback for a second one. Despite feeling uncertain about her performance, she persevered through additional auditions.Jo Yuri: “I safely made it through the first audition and got a call back for the second audition… I wasn’t sure how it went because although I gave it my all, I felt like I might have not made it.”

Days later, Jo received a life-changing call informing her that she had passed the second audition and was invited to continue with further auditions. The excitement peaked when she received confirmation from her director.Jo Yuri: “My director usually doesn’t call me during work hours, but my phone kept ringing… they told me that I got the role.”

When asked about her future projects, Jo Yuri expressed a strong desire to explore action roles. She conveyed her passion for this genre and her ambition to portray unpredictable characters.Jo Yuri: “I want to try action. I love that genre and have always wanted to do it.”
